Trade Job Interview Guide

Landing the perfect trade job is not something that you can get without little or a lot of hard work and effort. The free lunch is gone and if you want to succeed in life then you have to work for it. This is why you need to create your resume and make it show your best traits and your best qualifications for certain job positions.

Once you are successful in your applications, you will be called in for an interview. If you are really lucky you will be called in for several interviews to several different companies.

The following is a interview questions guide that you need to follow in order to succeed in the interview game.

How to Prepare for an Interview

Preparing for the interview is just as crucial as the interview itself. You wouldn’t want to look foolish in front of the hiring committee after all. Once you get that all important call back from the company or employer you just applied to, make sure to write down the date and the venue of the interview. This is probably the most important thing in preparing for an interview.

Once you already have the time and place down, you should be there at least 20 minutes in advance. You should not keep your potential employer waiting, that’s just bad form.

You should go to a job interview in the proper attire that is appropriate to the business you are applying to. It doesn’t mean that you need to wear overalls because you are applying as a mechanic. It just means that you need to dress appropriately. It is also not appropriate to go to an interview in a suit and tie when you are applying for a construction job. It just doesn’t fit. To be safe, you could call the office and ask the secretary or the HR department what their preferred attire is.

Take a shower. Wear clean clothes. Clean and shine your shoes. Be confident and smile.

How to Have a Successful Interview

The success of your interview will depend mostly on how well you conduct yourself and how well you relate to the one interviewing. They already have your resume with them; they only want to talk to you in order to get to know you a little better. So you should be confident in yourself.

Interview Tips for Trade Jobs

As you enter the office or approach the table of your interviewer you should greet him or her. You will be asked to take a seat. Sit with confidence. Don’t slouch. Be a little formal but remain natural. Answer questions directly and honestly. Avoid answers that don’t have substance. Always sell yourself as the best candidate for the job. They won’t hire you otherwise.

The Second Interview

The second interview is crucial to land the job. This is why it is essential that you remain calm and confident in your skills and abilities.

Salary Negotiation

Salary negotiation is usually not an issue since most employers offer a fix rate but if they do ask you what your preferred salary is then ask firmly for a fair and yet generous rate.

After the Interview

A few days to a couple of weeks after the interview, you should follow-up your application politely.
