Automotive technicians inspect, maintain, and repair automobiles, light trucks and a wide variety of other automobiles. In addition, they can be trained in other kind of automotive technician related topics such as: Electrical Systems, Emissions Systems, Transmissions and Drive Lines.

Automotive technicians should be able to adapt to the constant changing of automotive technology; this is very important because there are many vehicles which use high-tech computers and complex electronic systems to monitor the performance of the vehicle. They also must have excellent reasoning skills and an understanding of the structure of a vehicle in order to identify the problem rapidly.

You can find many institutions that offer automotive technician courses. The duration of the course is approximately two years, but if you want to specialize, you can enroll in special courses that last four years. You can earn a salary that varies between $30 and $40 per day.
